The museum was founded voluntarily to preserve and pass on the Jewish and historic story of Marrakech Jewry, Atlas Jewry, and Moroccan Jewry in general. Operating since 2016, it holds a collection of nearly 300 artifacts including pictures, ancient Judaica, digital documentation equipment, and a multimedia room. It is also home to to the Ancient “El’Azma” Synagogue, founded in 1492 by Jews expelled from Spain. It has since been active for five hundred years, where the few remaining members of the Marrakech community convene and pray together.
